Through this far, on walking in our life, I believe we hear that little inner voice that tells us what ways to be taken and doing with our lives and who we want to be. For some time, I think we feel so doubtful about that voice. We start to think things like, “Is this what I really want?”, “What if I fail?”, “I don’t think I can make it” etc.
Those doubtful mind and feeling will probably influence our decision including hold ourselves back from doing the things we believe would bring true meaning and purpose into our lives. As someone who has struggled with overthinking-overwhelmed-and over self-doubt over the years, I wanted to share a magic mantra that works on me to deal with it. You might have heart it before but let me break it through to some parts to make it easier to understand it.
Do I want it? Or Do I need it?
Once you have a gut or hearing an inner voice in your heart, first thing first is ask yourself. Whether the decisions available in front of you is something that you want it or you need it or not at all. There is major different between those two. “Want” is driven by desire and “need” is driven by necessity. What you want is sometime things that probably you are not required to decide at this moment. Nevertheless, what you need is probably something that if you do not fulfill in near time, there is something will not function well in your life. This exercise will make you think better to decide which decision you could prioritize and affect your life most.
Be It or Don’t Be It
After you finally decide which decision you have taken, now do it a wholeheartedly. Own it and do it 100%. If it is not worth it, you should not take it at the very first place. I mean, when you invest to something that you have decided, better be it and own it or if not, do not be it at all. Invest it to build that decision 100%. The result will probably surprises you. Once you are doing something, 100%, you will more care towards it, you will work harder to build it, your tendency will more leaning towards it, you will be more proud about it, and you will be more honest about it. Your efforts will be more structured to build something you own it. Based on my perspective, it would be very tiring if you were not be something you are doing right now. You will work on something that is less effective and less joyful. Maybe, you will feel the burdens and carry the heavy thoughts. You will probably make more excuses in order to cover the mess, because you are not into it. It would be different, if you faced difficulties once you be it, you will work harder on tackling the issues, you will striving more and your mindset will be stronger.
It might sound cheesy, and you might have heard it from someone else, but listen, believe in yourself and you can decide the right thing in your life. Be it, own the decision and work it to 100%. Baby steps progress is still a progress, better than nothing at all. Again, be it, own it, and make it happen.
